Grit is a quality that separates those who succeed from those who give up. Davina Hughes, a successful entrepreneur, defines grit as the ability to keep moving forward when everything is trying to stop you. It's the refusal to quit, even when faced with opposition or failure.

Hughes explains that grit is essential for entrepreneurs, who often have a vision of what they want to achieve but lack the knowledge or resources to get there. It requires a willingness to learn, to adapt, and to keep pushing forward, even when it feels like everything is against you.

As an example of grit in action, Hughes shares the story of her 12-year-old son, who wanted to start a YouTube channel. Despite her lack of tech-savviness and support, he persisted, learning as he went and creating content that eventually went viral. Now, at 17, he has a successful and monetized YouTube channel with thousands of subscribers and views.

For entrepreneurs, grit is crucial because success often requires taking risks and facing failure. It's the ability to keep going, even when the path is uncertain or difficult. As Hughes notes, in the real estate industry, technology has become a necessary component of success. Agents must learn how to use social media, YouTube, and other tools to reach potential clients and stay ahead of the competition. It can be overwhelming and intimidating, but it's essential for those who want to thrive in the industry.

To develop grit, Hughes advises entrepreneurs to embrace failure as a necessary part of the process. Instead of letting setbacks derail them, they should use them as learning opportunities and keep moving forward. This means being persistent and determined, even when faced with challenges that seem insurmountable.

In conclusion, grit is a critical quality for entrepreneurs and anyone who wants to succeed in life. It's the ability to keep going, even when everything is trying to stop you, and to turn failure into a stepping stone towards success. By developing grit, entrepreneurs can overcome obstacles and achieve their goals, no matter how difficult they may seem.
